2022.01.17 14:12 jsetzler89 Bank Account Linking

I'm new to the community and crypto as a whole but I just got the Virtual card (waiting on my deployment so I can have it sent there).
I read the several posts about the auto top-up question and it got me thinking:
Understanding that the CDC card is a pre-paid VISA, is it possible to link the card to my bank account so that, whenever used, it automatically draws from my bank, in the same sense as a normal debit card, instead of manually adding funds? If not, is this something that CDC has planned in the future?
I'm aware that this may be a complete no-go due to security reasons and such.

There are lots of low-level spells and effects that would be devastating if employed in battles, especially if lots of soldiers had access to them. How do you think producing those would work, mechanically? Using them?

2022.01.17 14:12 SoCalChrisW Looking for advice on upgrading my crank set

I've got a Trek 520 Grando that I got last year, and have put just under 3,000 miles on. I absolutely love the bike, except the front derailleur shifts poorly a lot of times going from the small to large chain ring. It's been to the shop that I bought it from, a second independent shop that I trust, and I've adjusted it multiple times myself. Every time, it shifts great on the stand, shifts great in the parking lot when I'm testing it, but about half the time when I'm actually on a long ride it won't shift from the small to large ring at all. I usually spend 5-10 minutes shifting back and forth and trying to get it to shift before it will, or I've had to stop and manually lift the chain up to the larger ring to get it to shift manually. Of course, after that happens and after it's been looked at by a shop, I'll take it back to the shop to have them look at it again and it works perfectly when I'm there.
I've read a few places online with people who have a Prowheel brand crankset have had similar issues, no matter how well it's tuned it won't consistently shift correctly on the front. So I'm considering changing out the crankset to a Shimano one since this wouldn't be a horribly expensive upgrade that I think may make my rides more enjoyable, and I've got Amazon gift cards and REI dividends that will cover the majority of these.
The bike's current components are:

I'd like to upgrade the crankset to the Shimano FC-RX810-2. While I'm doing that, I'd like to also upgrade the bottom bracket to a Shimano model. Can anyone tell me if the following would work?
My main questions are these:
Thank you!

2022.01.17 14:12 wdDrake What caused your insomnia?

Prior to last December, I never ever had problems sleeping. I wasn't anxious. I wasn't depressed. Sure I had some unhealthy tendencies like staying up late, not being active enough, but sleep was something I took for granted.
Last month, I did my usual routine of vaping THC and gaming from 9-11pm (real bad habit in hindsight). On one night, I felt more energized than usual and stayed on until 2am. I was periodically vaping the THC as was my usual routine, followed by laying in the bed on my phone until I'd tire out.
I put my phone away and laid in bed from 2-3:30, and wasn't falling asleep. I kept thinking to myself that I can't sleep, ultra aware of my consciousness, and around 3:30 I could feel my heart start to race. At this point I was having a panic attack which I suspect the vaping contributed to. My blood pressure was over 150/90 and a heart rate of 124.
Went to the ER and they found nothing. I eventually came down. But ever since that night, I've had insomnia since. Tried diphenhydramine a couple nights but got lackluster sleep. Began Trazodone a few days later and I've been on it since with very mixed results. Felt incredibly anxious and nervous about sleep and my bed for weeks.
Although I've just begin seeing a therapist, I feel my anxiety has started to quiet down a little. However, I still worry about catching sleep after so many nights of zero sleep or broken sleep that it's pervasive in my thoughts daily, especially as night rolls around.
I feel like I've lost control of my life. I went from being otherwise content and happy to an absolute miserable insomniac out of nowhere. Now I worry whether this is here to stay.
That's the end of my rant. How did your insomnia start? Was it from a traumatic event like mine?

2022.01.17 14:12 TurbulentPromise4812 Water heater drip.

My 40 gal Rheem water heater began a slow drip. In 3 weeks it dripped about 12 ounces, I have not been able to find the source although somewhere the bottom dripping clear water.
The water heater itself is about 21 years old we have been in the house just under 6 years and have not had any problems with hot water at all.
The last time a plumber came over for an unrelated event 4 years ago he pushed hard to buy a new one on his one day only sale. I told him I would think about and I was slightly alarmed on the hard sell.
With the age at about 21 and its' slow drip, should I go ahead and buy a new one or try to get a plumber to inspect/repair? I know expectency is about 15-20 but doesn't mean it doesn't work safely beyond that timeframe.

2022.01.17 14:12 sirsadalot Tianeptine's redemption? | Depression strategies

Are all opioids bad? My stance on drugs remains unchanged: we must optimize health, both mental and physical. As such, I reject addictive drugs capable of withdrawal. Regardless, no treatment is even more damning, and so with each post I aim to employ new strategies.
The following on Tianeptine has caught my eye:

Explanation: Tianeptine is shown to work through glutamate modulation, an action downstream from MOR. In the short-term, opioids are functional antidepressants, atypical in nature.\4]) That being said, long-term exposure is stereotypically self-destructive, making its clinical practice frowned upon. But Tianeptine does not face such issues,\5]) perhaps due to g-protein signalling bias\1]) which in theory would result in less downregulation.
Its major metabolite "MC5" also demonstrates a prolonged half-life and accumulation.\1])\2]) The addictive nature of Tianeptine is not only predictable, but evidenced by conditioned place preference.\1]) However, its delayed action could theoretically retract from this, given how important drug onset and potency is to addiction.
Would I recommend Tianeptine? My philosophy on addiction is that it is disempowering, so Tianeptine would not be my first choice. I used to suffer badly from depression, but I've since cured it using Agmatine Sulfate at 1g twice daily, now up to a year after discontinuation. I understand not everyone will respond to Agmatine, but it's far from your only option. D-Serine is my latest fascination, and I believe it shows promise here too. And as rumored, Tianeptine is both sustainable and effective at a low dose, but it would be my last resort.

2022.01.17 14:12 Hypezz123 Continuously checking for keypresses

I'm trying to make the game snake, but I realized I didn't know how to check for input w/o the function input(), as that one requires an enter press between each input. I did some research and found that base python seems to have no functionality like that, but that there are modules like keyboard and pynput that can do it.
Problem is I've been sitting here trying to make it print for an hour to no avail. Here is what I found on another site:

import os os.system("pip install pynput") from pynput import keyboard def on_press(key): try: print('Alphanumeric key pressed: {0} '.format( key.char)) except AttributeError: print('special key pressed: {0}'.format( key)) def on_release(key): print('Key released: {0}'.format( key)) if key == keyboard.Key.esc: # Stop listener return False # Collect events until released with keyboard.Listener( on_press=on_press, on_release=on_release) as listener: listener.join()

I'm coding on replit.com right now, and I'm not 100% sure that I imported the module correctly in the first place. Seems like it though, although it is telling me that there is an updated version available.
As for the current behavior, the program is completely unresponsive. I suspect the problem is the arguments for the listener function but I'm not sure.
